RISE proposal ENRICH selected by European Union
The European Union has selected the RISE proposal ENRICH for its innovative approach to exploring the hidden modified proteome in disease. This multidisciplinary project focuses on developing cost-effective, rapid, and efficient tools for the enrichment of post-translationally modified proteins, addressing the limitations of current methods like high costs and data reproducibility.
At the heart of this initiative is the plan to functionalize nanoparticles with molecular receptors capable of enriching peptides that contain post-translational modifications (PTMs). This enhancement facilitates the subsequent mass spectrometry analysis, which is a crucial technique in identifying such modifications across the proteome.
The ENRICH consortium comprises nine esteemed academic research groups from Europe and America, as well as two highly innovative companies. This collaboration is set to drive important advancements in our understanding of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, schizophrenia, and diabetes, where inefficient epigenetic control is implicated.
We look forward to contributing to this exciting endeavor!
